Two journeys in western Hunan — Zhangjiajie in early spring 2023, sandstone pillars emerging layer by layer from dawn light and mist with the moon above the peaks; and Fenghuang on a summer night in 2022, the stilt houses along the Tuo River lit up and mirrored in the water.
